Facial Aesthetics

Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers, delivered by dental clinicians with years of training in head and neck anatomy and senior aesthetic training at the Bob Khanna Institute.

Why a Dental Practice for Facial Aesthetics

Dental clinicians have years of focused training in head and neck anatomy. We know the muscles, the nerves, the blood vessels, and exactly where each of them sits. That training matters when you're injecting around the face. Most aesthetic complications come from people who don't know the anatomy as well as they should. We do.
Our facial aesthetics work is led by clinicians who completed senior training at the Bob Khanna Institute, run by Professor Bob Khanna, president of the International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics. We use Restylane dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid, fully resorbable by the body) and licensed botulinum toxin products.

Treatments We Offer:

  • Anti-wrinkle injections - forehead, frown lines, crow's feet, brow lift
  • Gum smile correction - lowering the lip line where too much gum shows
  • Masseter clenching treatment - relaxing the chewing muscle for jaw pain, tooth wear or a softer jaw line
  • Hyperhidrosis - reducing excessive sweating in the armpits or face
  • Lip sculpting - giving lips fuller volume and better shape
  • Marionette line softening - the creases from the corners of the mouth down
  • Cheek definition - dermal filler to define or restore volume in the cheeks

Problems Facial Aesthetics Treats:

  • Visible lines around the eyes, forehead and between the brows
  • A smile that shows too much gum
  • Jaw clenching, jaw pain and grinding wear on teeth
  • Excessive underarm or facial sweating
  • Thin or asymmetric lips
  • Deep creases at the corners of the mouth
  • Loss of cheek volume with age

How a Tangmere
Facial Aesthetics Visit Works

1

Consultation

We discuss what you'd like to change, your medical history, any previous aesthetic work, and what realistic results look like. We'll be honest if we don't think a treatment is right for you. Some patients leave a consultation without booking - that's fine.

2

Treatment Planning

Once we've agreed what to do, we plan the specific areas to treat, the dose, and the expected result. For first-time patients we typically start conservatively and let you see the effect before going further. You can always add more. You can't easily take it away.

3

The Treatment Itself

Treatments are quick - usually 15-30 minutes. Botulinum toxin is a series of small injections into the relevant muscle. Dermal fillers are placed carefully into the skin or lip tissue. We use topical anaesthetic where useful to keep it comfortable.

4

Review and Top-Up

We see you back 2-3 weeks later to check the result, take photos, and discuss whether any small adjustments would help. We keep a record so future treatments can be replicated or tweaked. Botulinum toxin results last 3-4 months. Fillers last 6-12 months.

Frequently Asked Questions About
Facial Aesthetics

Dental clinicians have years of focused training in head and neck anatomy. Most of the complications in cosmetic aesthetics come from injecting in the wrong place. Dental training significantly reduces that risk. Our work is also based on senior training at the Bob Khanna Institute, which is one of the most respected aesthetic training programmes in the UK.

Yes, when used at the right doses by someone who knows what they're doing. It's been used clinically for decades, well beyond cosmetic use - it's used in medicine for migraine, bladder problems, excessive sweating, muscle spasms and more. The cosmetic doses are very small.

Not the way we do it. We aim for a relaxed, natural look. We start conservatively, let you see the effect, and adjust at the follow-up if you'd like more. The frozen look usually comes from too much product too quickly, which we avoid.

Botulinum toxin: typically 3-4 months. Dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid): typically 6-12 months. Repeat treatments often last longer as the underlying muscle weakens or collagen production is stimulated.

Most patients describe it as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. The needles are very fine. We use topical anaesthetic for lip and filler work to keep it comfortable.

Some patients get small bruises at injection sites that settle within a few days. Occasional mild headache after Botulinum toxin. Rarely, asymmetry that we can correct at follow-up. We go through all possible side effects properly at consultation.

Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with certain neurological conditions, and patients allergic to any of the ingredients. We screen all of this at consultation. If aesthetics aren't right for you, we'll tell you straight.

Yes. Many patients combining whitening, Invisalign or veneers with light facial aesthetic work get a more complete result than either treatment alone. We can plan both as one programme.
