3. Using This Website

3.1 Content

The content on this website is for general information only. While we try to keep it accurate and up to date, it should not be relied on as a substitute for professional dental advice. Always book a consultation for advice on your specific situation.

3.2 Information About Treatment

Treatment information on this site describes what we offer in general terms. The specific treatment recommended for you depends on a clinical assessment. Costs, durations and outcomes vary by case.

3.3 Pricing

Fees published on the website are current at the date of update shown. We aim to keep them accurate but may not reflect changes immediately. The fees applicable to your treatment will be those quoted to you in writing before treatment starts.

3.4 Reasonable Use

You may use the website for normal personal and informational purposes. You may not:
  • Use it for commercial scraping or data mining
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the system
  • Submit malicious content, false information, or anything that infringes others' rights
  • Reproduce significant content without permission

3.5 Third-Party Links

The website may link to third-party sites (Google, NHS, regulatory bodies, etc.). We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or policies.

4. Intellectual Property

All content on this website (text, images, design, logos) is owned by Tangmere Dental Care or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, publish or use any part of it for commercial purposes without our written permission.
Patient before-and-after photographs in the Smile Gallery are used with the patient's explicit written consent. Reproduction of these images is not permitted.

5. Patient Relationship (Where Applicable)

These provisions apply if you're a registered patient at Tangmere.

5.1 Registration

Registration as a private patient requires:
  • A new patient examination
  • Completion of our medical history form
  • Acceptance of our standard terms of treatment

5.2 Honest Information

You agree to provide accurate and complete information about your medical history, medications, allergies and dental history. We rely on this information to treat you safely. Failure to disclose material information may affect treatment safety and our ability to provide care.

5.3 Following Clinical Advice

Where we recommend specific home care, follow-up appointments, or treatment, we ask that you follow those recommendations. We can't guarantee outcomes if recommended care is not followed.

5.4 Our Duties to You

We commit to:
  • Providing dental treatment that meets GDC professional standards
  • Acting in your best interests at all times
  • Being clear about costs in advance
  • Maintaining confidentiality (subject to legal requirements)
  • Following our published Complaints Procedure if anything goes wrong

6. Appointments

6.1 Booking

Appointments are booked through reception by phone, email, or our enquiry form. A booking fee is required to secure most appointments (see section 7 below). The booking fee is credited towards the cost of the appointment.

6.2 Confirmation

We may send appointment reminders by SMS, email or phone. It is your responsibility to attend or cancel - reminders are a courtesy, not a guarantee of contact.

6.3 Arriving Late

If you arrive significantly late for an appointment, we may not be able to complete the planned treatment. We'll do our best to rearrange, but you may be charged for the missed appointment time.

7. Fees, Payment & Cancellation

7.1 Published Fees

Our standard private fees are published on the Treatment Costs page. Fees are reviewed annually and updated as needed. The date shown reflects the current applicable fees.

7.2 Quotes

For any treatment beyond a routine examination or hygiene visit, you'll receive a written quote before treatment starts. The quote sets out each step of treatment and any alternatives.

7.3 Quote Validity

Written quotes are typically valid for 90 days from issue. If you accept the quote within this period and begin treatment, the quoted price holds. If treatment is deferred beyond 90 days, we may need to re-quote to reflect any fee changes.

7.4 Booking Fees

A booking fee is required to secure most appointments. The fee is credited towards the appointment cost. Exception: routine examination and hygiene visits included in a dental plan.

7.5 Payment Terms

Treatment fees are paid as treatment progresses, usually at each appointment. Larger treatments may require a deposit at booking, with the balance settled at each visit. We don't offer in-practice credit during treatment.

7.6 Payment Methods

We accept credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, cash, and (for plan members only) monthly Direct Debit via Simplyhealth Professionals. We don't accept cheques.

7.7 Cancellation

less than 24 hours' notice

No charge

Under 24 hours' notice

A fee applies to cover staff time. This is deducted from your booking fee.

No notice / no-show

Full appointment fee applies.
Any short-notice cancellation fee is at least 50% lower if you notify us before the scheduled appointment time. Any outstanding cancellation fees must be settled before booking new appointments.

7.8 Non-Payment

Non-payment may result in future appointments being put on hold until the account is settled. Persistent non-payment may lead to membership cancellation (for plan members) or to formal debt recovery procedures.

8. Dental Plan Membership

If you're a member of one of our dental plans (Denplan Care, Essentials, Children's, or Total Healthcare):
  • The detailed scheme terms are set out in the Denplan Member Handbook provided when you join, and our Scheme Rules.
  • Where these general terms conflict with the Member Handbook, the Member Handbook takes precedence.
  • Plan membership operates on monthly Direct Debit through Simplyhealth Professionals (Denplan).
  • Plans can be cancelled with reasonable notice - see Scheme Rules for the detail.

9. Treatment Consent

For all non-routine treatment we require informed consent in writing. The consent form sets out:
  • The treatment proposed
  • The benefits, risks and alternatives
  • The estimated cost and timing
  • Your right to seek a second opinion
You're free to withdraw consent at any time before treatment starts. Once treatment has started, withdrawal may affect outcomes and may incur charges for work already completed.

10. Guarantees on Treatment

10.1 Definitive Repair Work

We guarantee our definitive repair work for a minimum of 2 years from the date of treatment. If a covered repair fails within this period through fault other than trauma or neglect, we'll address it without further charge.

10.2 What's Not Covered

The guarantee does not cover:
  • Failure due to trauma (impact, accident)
  • Failure due to grinding/clenching where a protective splint has been recommended but not used
  • Failure due to severe inadequate oral hygiene
  • Damage caused by missed maintenance appointments
  • Treatment carried out by other practitioners after we placed the work

10.3 Replacement Treatment vs Refund

Where a guarantee applies, the remedy is normally replacement treatment at no further cost. Refunds are considered in exceptional circumstances at the practice's discretion.

11. Our Liability

11.1 Standard of Care

We're committed to providing dental care to a high professional standard, but no dental treatment is risk-free. We don't guarantee specific outcomes - we work to industry standards and your individual circumstances.

11.2 Limitation of Liability

Our liability to you is limited to:
  • The fees you've paid for the treatment in question, in the case of treatment that has failed and where guarantee provisions don't apply
  • Refunding fees paid for any service we fail to provide

11.3 What We Don't Exclude

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:
  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any liability that cannot be excluded by law

11.4 Indemnity Insurance

All our clinicians carry professional indemnity insurance as required by the GDC. Any claim for clinical negligence would normally be handled through this insurance, not by direct payment from the practice.

12. Complaints

If you're unhappy with any aspect of our care or service, please raise it through our Complaints Procedure. We take complaints seriously and use them to improve.
If you're unable to resolve a complaint with us directly, you can escalate to:
  • GDC Private Dental Complaints Service: 020 8253 0800 / dcs.gdc-uk.org
  • Parliamentary Health Ombudsman (England): for NHS treatment
  • Care Quality Commission (CQC): 03000 616161
  • General Dental Council (GDC): 020 7167 6000 / gdc-uk.org

13. How We Handle Your Data

Your personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR. See the Privacy Policy for full details on what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the website or our services after a change implies acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes affecting registered patients will be communicated directly.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
